About Whiskey Mountain

If you are wondering how we got our name Whiskey Mountain….Many years ago during the prohibition times, a whiskey distillery was developed in a cave in the mountain behind our property.  The Bootleggers were caught selling their production and the local population decided to call this “area” Whiskey Mountain.

The main home was built in 1869 and is a 1 ½ story German farmhouse with a lot of history and tales!  The stories written tell of families full of love with dances in the front rooms and horses tied up to the front cypress tree posts that hold up the 50 foot front porch!

Whiskey Mountain Inn is nestled in the Texas Hill Country off Hwy 83 about 3 miles South of Leakey, Texas.  We are convenient in location to many attractions in the Frio River area such as Garner State Park and Lost Maples State Natural Area and we are within a very short distance to river access.  GPS Coordinates: 29.671926,-99.758476
